ODA Committee Update

ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATE

ODA COMMITTEE KICKS OFF ANOTHER BUSY SEASON OF ODA ACTIVITY!
February 27, 2003

SUMMARY

The ODA Committee today kicks off another busy season of activity in our
campaign for a barrier-free Ontario, by letting you know what to expect
over the next days and weeks.

MORE DETAILS

The ODA Committee Email Update Service will be bringing you lots of
important and interesting information over the next days and weeks, as the
newest season unfolds in our campaign for a barrier-free Ontario.

Over the rest of this winter and the long-overdue spring (that we are all
waiting for), our efforts can focus on two important priorities. First, we
continue advocating for the ODA 2001 to be effectively implemented, and to
monitor its impact. We will want to see if the Government keeps the 13
major commitments they made in 2001 on what the ODA 2001 would achieve for
us. To help with this activity, make use of our Municipal Barrier Buster's
Action Kit
. If you do not have a copy of it, visit our web site at:

http://www.odacommittee.net/action-kit35.html

or email us to ask for a copy at:

oda@odacommittee.net

Second, we will again try to get as many people across Ontario as possible
raising the ODA issue in the upcoming provincial election, widely expected
to be called this spring.

Stay tuned for upcoming ODA email updates which will include:

* Correspondence to the ODA Committee from the Government of Ontario,
including a recent letter from the Ontario Accessibility Advisory
Committee.

* Media coverage of the ODA issue.

* More action tips on how to help get the ODA 2001 implemented; and
* Lots of ideas on how to raise the ODA issue in the upcoming provincial
election.

Encourage others to get on our ODA email list. Get friends and family to
write us to ask to be added. Anyone can ask to be added to the ODA email
list by sending a request to:

oda@odacommittee.net

And as always, keep sending us information on what is happening in your
community on the ODA front, as well as your ideas for action that other ODA
supporters can put into action in their local communities.

It has now been over 14 months since the Ontario Government passed the
Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2001. Let us know what difference it has
made in your life in achieving a barrier-free Ontario.
