ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATE

ODA Committee Again Seeks Volunteers To Help During Upcoming Ontario Election

August 29, 2003

SUMMARY

With an election call widely expected for next Wednesday, the ODA Committee is again calling for volunteers in the Greater Toronto Area to help us raise the ODA issue during the upcoming provincial election campaign. Others around the province will want to organize to take on this activity locally as well.

MORE DETAILS

If you are interested in volunteering to help the ODA Committee in our effort at raising the ODA issue during the upcoming election campaign, and if you did not contact us to offer your help last March when we first were looking, then please email us as soon as possible at:

oda@odacommittee.net

Let us know your phone numbers, and when it would be best to reach you. Also, let us know if you would be interested to help with:

* going to all-candidates' debates to raise the ODA issue;

* handing out an ODA leaflet explaining this issue to voters, and/or

* working on getting media coverage of the ODA issue, e.g. by calling phone-in programs.

We again emphasize that in this activity, the ODA Committee does not seek to elect or defeat any party or candidate. We want voters to know about issues important to persons with disabilities, particularly the ODA issue, and the positions of the parties on these.

Over the next days and weeks, the ODA Committee will be sending out helpful action tips and other tools to help all with this activity. If you are not in the Toronto area, and are interested in getting involved in this activity in your community, we encourage you to take on the challenge of organizing others to do this in your community or contact your nearest ODA Committee regional contact. ODA Committee regional contacts are listed on the ODA Committee website:

http://www.odacommittee.net

Let's work together to make sure that voters know about the important disability issues in this election. Get friends and family members
involved.
