Dear Mr. Lepofsky,

Thank you for your letter of October 26th and for your participation in our meeting of October 22nd.

Let me reassure you that the government is committed to introducing legislation that is workable, and that reflects a balanced approach to the diverse stakeholder views expressed in the consultation.

I understand you have been advised by ministry staff that they will be requesting authorization for release from all those who submitted briefs to the consultation. I know staff will work quickly to get you these briefs as soon as possible.

I also understand staff have assured you that all the submissions had indeed been reviewed for policy content at the time of our meeting. Review for privacy considerations is still under way. The briefs provided important input and will continue to be a valuable resource to my ministry.

I believe staff have forwarded to you the written transcript of our meeting and the disk you requested.
