Letter to the ODA Committee from
The Honourable Helen Johns,
Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation

June 1, 2000

David Lepofsky C.M., Chair
Ontarians with Disabilities Act Committee
c/o Marg Thomas
1929 Bayview Ave.
Toronto ON M4G 3E8

Dear Mr. Lepofsky:

Thank you for your letter dated May 23 regarding disability legislation.

My office has no record of having received a letter from you dated April 24 in which you requested a meeting.

As you know, after your phone call to my office, staff did try to arrange a meeting. My staff suggested several dates when I would be available to meet with you, however, you were unable to meet at these times due to your vacation plans.

My office will continue efforts to arrange the meeting that you have requested.

I have asked my staff to contact your associate, Marg Thomas, to set up a meeting after your return in July from your holidays.

I would like to clarify that my letter to PUSH Northwest did not state that I had consulted with you, merely that I met with the Ontarians with Disabilities Act Committee and other groups to benefit from their insight and expertise.

Thank you for writing.

Sincerely,

Helen Johns
Minister
