David Lepofsky, Co-Chair
Ontarians with Disabilities Act Committee
1929 Bayview Avenue

Dear Mr. Lepofsky:

Thank you for your letter proposing a meeting with members of the
government caucus to discuss disability issues and for your kind
words following our recent meeting. It was a pleasure to speak
with you, Mr. Malkowski and Ms. Riback about the need for
disability legislation.

Let me also thank you and your colleagues for continually updating
your website with the most recent information on disability
issues. The website not only raises awareness of this important
subject, but it also keeps Ontarians appraised of the progress we
are making toward the goal of introducing and passing disability
legislation.

I share your view that a free exchange of comments and ideas with
my caucus colleagues would be very helpful in completing the task
ahead of us. It is my understanding that you met last week with
members of the Justice and Social Policy Outreach Committee,
including MPPs Bob Wood, Steve Gilchrist and Gary Stewart. I am
anxious to receive their input on this subject in the next few
weeks.

In the meantime, it is my hope that we, too, may meet again to
discuss in greater depth some of the points raised in our meeting
last month. Debra Mansillo from my office would be pleased to
arrange a mutually convenient time, and she may be reached at
(416) 325-6218.

I look forward to continuing my discussion with stakeholders into
the summer, and to speaking with you in the very near future to
build on the progress we have made in preparation for this
important legislation.

Sincerely,

Cam Jackson
Minister
