NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING on
THE ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
AT LONDON/MIDDLESEX MS SOCIETY

The MS Society will host a meeting on the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA) on Monday, January 31, 2000 from 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Mount Hope Auditorium, 21 Grosvenor St., London. MPP Steve Peters (L- Elgin -Middlesex - London) will be the featured speaker.

Mr. Peters, the Liberal Party's critic for persons with disabilities, put forward the recent ODA resolution which was passed unanimously at Queen's Park. It resolved that an Ontarians with Disabilities Act which is strong and effective will be enacted no later than Nov. 23, 2001.

Jean Knight, a regional contact of the ODA Committee will present a background on the "long and winding road" to a strong and effective Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Paulette Seguin, an ODA Committee member, will introduce Mr. Peters. Some of the highlights of Lynne Swanson's "Raising Cane" TV segments from the New PL television station will be shown.

The meeting will include opportunities to share information concerning the unnecessary barriers that disabled persons are experiencing. Everyone is welcome, including persons with disabilities, their friends, family and advocates, and of course, persons who do not yet have a disability.

You are asked to register before Jan. 27, 2000 by calling the MS Society at (519) 672-5855 or by e-mailing us at mss@stj.stjosephs.london.on.ca.

ASL interpretation will be available. Please let the MS society know if you have any special needs. Please circulate this announcement as far and wide as possible.
